I think Flamingo is probably right - Killdeer are year-round residents of our region, make ground nests, and the eggs can be white to light-gray with heavy speckles.
This looks like a crocus
Yep, I was going to suggest crocus as well. They're actually quite pretty - first time I've seen one! (I don't get out much. lol)
