This is Hedera helix 'Gold Child'. The American Ivy Society has selected ‘Gold Child’ as the ivy of the year for 2008.

Kildeer nests are always built out in the open, usually along roadsides. Seems like they'd get run over easily!

Actually, this is a Verbena, of the variety Verbena x tenera TexTuf. It grows as a perennial wildflower in Texas.
