Baya Weaver nests

Ploceus philippinus

Description:

3 Baya Weaver nests + one other, could it possibly be a Munia nest. I found them all on the ground close to each other. The rice had all been harvested in this area so not sure whether these would fall to the ground from the Coconut palm where they were previously seen.

Thanks Atul! I actually went back to this area to try and get some clearer photos of the Weavers birds building their nests but was obviously too late.

superb spotting Viv!
these would have surely fallen off from the palm tree ,these are old or abandoned baya weaver nests. these birds are hard workers and will always build a new nest every season, the male does all the hard work the female inspects the nest and then decides whether she likes it , if she doesnt the male has to rebuild the entire nest and the previous one is left untouched.
