Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Description:

The brown anole Anolis sagrei is small, semi-arboreal ("trunk-ground") lizard with relatively long toes and reduced toe pad surfaces (relative to congeners), well suited for running and jumping (Williams 1983, Campbell 2002).

Habitat:

Anolis sagrei is native to Cuba, the Bahamas, and nearby islands Not native to Florida: Populations are confirmed breeding and apparently self-sustaining for 10 or more consecutive years. This Anole was in my backyard on Siesta Key in Florida.
