A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Zenaida macroura
This is a medium-sized dove about 31 cm (12 in) in length. The legs are red/pink. The beak is short and dark. Feathers are generally light gray-brown. The wings are decorated with black spotting and the outer tail feathers are white.
Mourning doves are most often found in open and semi-open areas, including farms, suburban yards and other lightly wooded places. They feed extensively in agricultural areas and are often found around developed areas versus wilderness.

Lovely perspective.
I love these birds. They are soft and graceful. The call of the dove is one of the most beautiful sounds. I could listen to them for hours.
