Camellia (fruit)

Family:Theaceae Genus:Camellia

Description:

I have never seen fruit on a camellia before even though everybody grows them as garden ornamentals in this area. The tree had dozens and they were almost apple sized and rough due to a felt-like skin. Mustard coloured at all stages seen. Some older ones on the ground revealed 'nuts' which were very tough.
