Glowworm

Description:

This particular glowworm is either a larva or adult female, it is difficult to distinguish between the two. Adult males are winged with branched antennae and do not feed. Adult females are larviform and feed on millipedes. Both larvae and adult females have bioluminescent organs that emit yellow or green light.

Habitat:

North America - Central America. Mostly nocturnal, woodland areas. Adult males can be seen around lights at night.

Karen, I agree. I was never aware that these were terrestrial and lived in this area.. Before now, I've only seen aquatic glowworm larvae in the Caribbean Sea!
