Bubulcus ibis
Stocky, white heron. During breeding season, crown and back acquire buffish tinge. Legs pinkish during breeding season, otherwise dull green. At close range, has dagger-like bill and bulging throat. In flight, wings broad and round and neck is held hunched-up.
Favours dry habitat and often associated with grazing animals. Common resident in Iberia and the Camargue; occasional elsewhere.
