Blue-eared Kingfisher

Alcedo meninting

Description:

This is one of the favorite birds in my campus. From Wikipedia: Small kingfisher similar to Common Kingfisher (Alcedo attis). Both of them can be differentiated by ears cover, of which A. meninting have blue one.

Habitat:

Lowland green area near ponds and small river.

Notes:

# Love to see them in pair after several days I've to capture and always failed. Tracking back into the same location at least two days, usually they found under dense canopy. I try to capture on the wet ground, I didn't care about my dress. My pants full of mud! # First time I see them in Senna alata, on the branch which sometime covered by leaves. I try to get the pics but got bad result. I try again and see them fly into coconut leaves, just one. I'm pessimistic. But, suddenly three of them fly in front of me. And they were ready to be photographed! They are three, for the 3rd individual can be seen at #4 photo. Just got so much lucky!
