Hard to say... The tree was almost completely rotted to chunks and bits. Regardless, I'll go back there and check for signs of Birch.
If this wasn't found on a Birch, it can't be a Birch Polypore.
I am sure CorduneanuVlad would know more about this, but have a look at this link
