Carduelis chloris
Similar in shape and size to a sparrow, but with green and yellow plumage. The call is distinct, best described as a trill "wheezing" sound. The female is much more drab. Can be quite sociable, often flocking with other finches and buntings.
Fairly widespread, found in wooded areas in the countryside, in parks and gardens etc.
I came across a group of these finches while walking to the Naze at Walton-on-the-Naze, but could only grab this photo before they took off.
