Bizarre Looper Caterpillar

Anisozyga pieroides

Notes:

This caterpillar was about 1.5cm long and looked like it was covered in curled up dead leaves - I'm not sure if the caterpillar just looks like this or if it's attached those bits itself, but I assume the leafy look is a defence mechanism. Thanks to bayucca for the ID!

that's got to be one of the strangest caterpillars I have ever seen. Nice spotting,

Thanks for the ID bayucca. I guess the caterpillars all look a bit different if they collect detritus and attach it to themselves.

What an interesting caterpillar. No wonder he's called 'Bizarre" :)

Excellent guess with your Geometrinae, what actually it is. Quite a strange habit of symmetrically collecting different little things.
