Apis florea
this small swarm (pic) of less than a hundred bees had just gathered to form a colony (i reckon)... on a branch of the Common guava / Yellow guava / Lemon guava (Psidium guajava - Myrtales; Myrtaceae; Myrtoideae; Myrteae). dwarf honey bees are by far the most common honey bees throughout tropical Asia... the most common being the Red dwarf honey bee (Apis florea) which has a much wider distribution than its less common sister species the Black dwarf honey bee (Apis andreniformis). workers are typically 7–10mm in body length and its overall coloration is red-brown (A.florea) and black (A.andreniformis).! Apis florea have open nests and small colonies (usually only a few thousand bees) producing a single exposed comb with very little honey... usually on tree branches or shrubs.!
