ground ginger flower

Description:

terrestrial inflorescence, about 8" high, I think it's a species of Etlingera, but I'm not sure,

Habitat:

tropical forest and grasslands

Notes:

I spotted this at Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. I know this is a ground ginger flower but there was no foliage around. Just this flower popping up out of the ground.

That's a great link, thanks Viv. I'm not sure about the ID suggestion. I'm going to show this to a friend at work and see what he thinks.

This website - www.natureloveyou.sg has a great catalogue of plants that I'm just beginning to work through for some of my idents. Think you may find it useful too : )
