Its throat is steel-gray with white ends of its hair, rendering a salt and pepper appearance. Its hind feet possess hairy soles. Its tail is short and homogeneously colored with a fairer tip. I rented a mountain bike for the day in Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. I stopped for a while to take some photos. I was being very quiet when I heard something moving in the forest. It was coming towards me, it did not know I was there. It turned out to be this crab-eating mongoose. It got spooked when it saw me and retreated quickly. It moved about 10m down in the forest and then crossed the road where I managed to get just these shots of it. Wiki states this animal as nocturnal, but I've seen it numerous times during the day.
