Black Billed Magpie

Pica Hudsonia

Description:

Long streaming tail that is longer than the body and white wing patches. 18" long. Colors are black, white, blue and green. Bill is obviously black.

Habitat:

Open land near heavy brush or occasional trees.

Notes:

They are curious and smart. You can see them often but are very elusive. I followed this one for a long time as it watched me. Every time I got a little closer it flew further away.

Atmospheric first shot too! Welcome to Project Noah. I've a wiki link, a few tags and added this to the Birds of the World Mission.

Great snowy shot! I can appreciate the effort you put in to try and photograph it. Birds are not easy!
