Eurasian Eagle-Owl

Bubo bubo

Description:

The largest nocturnal bird of prey. The orange-red large eyes, the ear tufts and the size are diagnostic. That bird has a grey-brown plumage, with large and bold dark molds and stripes.

Habitat:

Former limestone quarry; trees and thickets reinvested the area.

Notes:

I was visiting the quarry when I spotted that bird. We stayed few minutes starring at each other before I start walking backyard. It finally decided to fly some meters away on the cliff. Just in case I would come back.
