Sooty Grouse

Dendragapus fuliginosus

Description:

Separated from the Dusky Grouse of the Rocky Mountains in 2006, together formerly known as Blue Grouse. Male Sooty Grouse have yellow throat sacs (red in Dusky) and a pale gray band on their tail (mostly absent in Dusky). Females are essentially identical.
