Spotting

Description:

My son Dyon first noticed this plant, which seems to be a sedge in the Carex family, on our hike from Pontemazzori to Bargiecchia, in the Lucca Province of Tuscany. It would definitely be called a 'carice' reinforcing its Carex nature even if it turns out to be a different botanical taxonomy.

Habitat:

Upland forested ridge near seasonal streamflows in a sandy clay soil.
