Angler Flatfish (juvenile)

Asterorhombus fijiensis

Description:

Also known as Flatfish, Lefteye Flounders and Bothid Flounder. They feed on fish, invertebrates and worms, and grow to a length of about 15cm.

Habitat:

Found singly in lagoons and coastal reefs on sand and mud bottoms, at depths of 1 to 30m. Widespread in the Indo-West Pacific.

Notes:

Spotted this baby flatfish, which measured only 3cm, at a depth of less than 2m.
