Description:

The white-lined sphinx is a large, furry moth similar in size to a hummingbird and has a wingspan of about 2-3 inches. The upper wings have noticeable white or cream stripes, the lower wings (hidden beneath upper wings during rest) are striped black and pink. The moth also behaves like a hummingbird, such as hovering and swinging side to side in midair while drinking nectar.

Habitat:

The organism was found on the outer wall of the house in the Arizona desert region. This moth can live in a variety of habitats such as deserts, gardens, as well as suburbs.
