Hyles Lineata
The white-lined sphinx is a large, furry moth similar in size to a hummingbird and has a wingspan of about 2-3 inches. The upper wings have noticeable white or cream stripes, the lower wings (hidden beneath upper wings during rest) are striped black and pink. The moth also behaves like a hummingbird, such as hovering and swinging side to side in midair while drinking nectar.
The organism was found on the outer wall of the house in the Arizona desert region. This moth can live in a variety of habitats such as deserts, gardens, as well as suburbs.
