Brachiopod Fossil

Description:

This rock contains well over a dozen fossila of brachiopods. All are mold fossils with the exception of the one featured prominently in the center which is a cast. The rock measures 80 mm (3.4 in) long by 80 mm (3.4 in wide). The cast fossil measures 15.5 mm (.6 in) tall by 22 mm (.9 in) wide. This fossil dates to the Devonian Period (416-359.2 million years ago).

Habitat:

Shore of a rocky brook (stream). Gully Brook, Willoughby, Ohio, USA.
