Mexican Plum

Prunus mexicana

Description:

Small tree, 15 - 30 ft. tall. It makes a beautiful wide-spreading tree. With age, the bark develops character, becoming satiny, blue grey with darker horizontal striations and bits of peeling bark. White blooms in spring, fading to pale pink as they age, followed by small plums that ripen to purple. Fruit is edible and makes good jam if you can get to them before the birds and mammals that feast on them.

Habitat:
