Thanks Christy & Noah - I've adjusted the name to Hairy Woodpecker.
I agree with Christy: the length of the bill tells it is a hairy woodpecker, not a downy.
I believe that's a hairy woodpecker...beautiful! They're fairly common here, but very skittish...hard to capture a good pic!!
