Woolly stemodia

Stemodia lanata

Description:

Sprawling, woolly-hairy perennial; stems branched to 40 in. Plant almost entirely covered with soft, whitish hairs, making it appear pale grey or silver. Flower to 1/2 - 3/8 in. long, violet to bluish purple, white streaked with purple in basal area. Leaves opposite, stalkless, and clasping stem at base. Margins entire to occasionally shallow-toothed.

Habitat:

Deep sandy soils, but will do well in sunny, garden soil. This one is growing in dry clay, though it was wet at the time I took the photo.

Notes:

Notice the web and damiantia seeds stuck on it.
