Mulloidichthys flavolineatus
Aggregations are common on shallow sandy reefs. White with pale fins, small eyes with a pale iris, and a yellow stripe that often exhibits a dark spot below the first dorsal fin. Color at night and after death is mottled pink and gray. Feeds upon buried invertebrates primarily during the day. The head and guts should not be eaten as it may cause hallucinations. Known locally as White weke and juveniles as 'oama, which are highly sought by anglers as food or bait. Attains 15 inches. Hawai'i and the Indo-Pacific. Formerly known as Mulloidichthys samoensis.
