Mangrove Skipper

Phocides pigmalion

Description:

Sorry for the awful photos- it was the best I could do with my phone! A very dark blue-black butterfly with little spots of blue on the edges of its hind wings. I believe this is a mangrove skipper- can anyone confirm?

Habitat:

Pollinating the sea grapes. There were several that were flitting all over the flowers. Coastal forest along Tampa Bay - sea grapes, mangroves, etc.

Notes:

Emerson Point Preserve
