Description:

This is a type of Blister Beetle that are called Oil Beetles. Medium sized, black beetle with an oily blue sheen. Shortened elytra and enlarged abdomen. Males of this species (and a few others) have modified antennae that are used during pre-mating displays (per Bugguide.net).

Habitat:

Stone pathway at Fallingwater. House within a temperate forest area.
