A wasp with fore-arms like a Mantis. Single, orange colored wing. Yellow abdomen with dark bands. approx 3.5 cm long.

It certainly is a Mantidfly (they are not wasps but are related to lacewings and antlions). I think you are most likely correct with C. brunnea. Here is one that looks very similar: http://bugguide.net/node/view/568430/bgi...
