Gymnopilus junonius

Description:

A clump of bright orangey-yellow mushrooms with fleshy caps about 50mm wide . The mushroom was growing between pieces of timber in a retaining wall and was split exposing yellowish flesh. The gills were a pale yellow and orange-coloured wisps of cortina were seen on the cap margin. Wisps of the cortina were also seen on the stipe. The stipe was thick and stained yellow. Margin of cap was in-rolled.
