Sweetgum

Liquidambar styraciflua

Description:

The Sweetgum seemed to be a newer tree to the forest since it was only about 15-20 feet tall. There seemed to be a start in the color change in the leaves. The spiky fruits of the tree could be found on the ground also.

Habitat:

The tree seemed to be a sapling and newer than the majority of the trees. Since the tree was newer it had partial shade coverage. Pine trees were the main tree in the area. Shrub and plant life was all around the trunk of the tree.
