A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Elanoides forficatus
A strikingly marked raptor of wetlands in the southeastern United States, the Swallow-tailed Kite captures flying insects or plucks insects and lizards from the tops of trees. Black above, white head, and underwing coverts. Long pointed wings and forked tail.
Often seen soaring low over swampy woods and along edges of woods.
Here for the summer. Saw this one while visiting the river front to see Barn Swallows.
