Swallow-tailed Kite

Elanoides forficatus

Description:

A strikingly marked raptor of wetlands in the southeastern United States, the Swallow-tailed Kite captures flying insects or plucks insects and lizards from the tops of trees. Black above, white head, and underwing coverts. Long pointed wings and forked tail.

Habitat:

Often seen soaring low over swampy woods and along edges of woods.

Here for the summer. Saw this one while visiting the river front to see Barn Swallows.
