Description:

It is a compact perennial which grows in low clumps and sends up long stems from which globes of bright pink flowers blossom. In some cases purple, white or red flowers also occur.

Habitat:

The plant occurs on high, sandy marshes, in brackish meadows and along seawalls, in dry, sandy soil. This plant resists zinc-and lead-containing ground, such as in pastures.
