Barred Owl feather

Strix varia

Description:

A small feather from a Barred Owl, photographed in situ. "The Feather Atlas - Flight Feathers of North American Birds" Web site doesn't show a similar-looking feather, so I'm guessing this specimen is a non-flight feather from the owl's body. Habitat:

The "Wildlife Sanctuary," one of seven small parks owned and maintained by the Community Association of Hollin Hills, Fairfax County, Virginia USA. Related Resource: http://waltersanford.blogspot.com/2010/1...
