Mecopus Weevil

Mecopus sp.

Description:

Insect. Approx. 1" in length. Dark grey/black body with pale grey markings. Appears to have spiky bits below it's head. 2 white dots on the back of head. Long snout. Long legs.

Habitat:

Mountainside

Notes:

Mecopus sp.? Possibly tipularis. Looks similar to this spotting of mine in a different location http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/100...

HI Viv, looks to be Mecopus sp. The spikes showing on this beetle, also on your previous spotting would seem to identify them as males, but would need an expert to confirm this.
