Long-legged Weevil

Description:

About 2 cm long without the rostrum, legs very long giving the appearance of a spider; grey cryptic coloration with a slight green sheen depending on light; eyes have no space between them, looking like a helmet; good flyers. These are males and they were fighting over the best spot on a log, pushing against one another with those two curved spines below the head (pictures# 2, 3).

Habitat:

Rainforest in the east of Tanna Island, close to Mt Yasur volcano.
