Unnamed spotting

Description:

I believe this is a hognose snake. I live in southeastern coastal North Carolina and found this guy under a hose reel box. He was put over the fence into the woods:)

Hi Kathleen! If you could update the ID of your snake with Aaron's suggestion that would be great! Also, please add to the Center for SnakeConservation mission to help document all the snakes in the US. Thanks! http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1202...

Welcome to Project Noah and your first spotting is fantastic! North Carolina is home to the eastern hognose snake and the southern hognose snake. From what I've read, the only way to distinguish between the two is to see the belly. That's why I offered an ID suggestion that's only at genus level. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing more of your great wildlife spottings.
