Spilopelia chinensis
Dove. A spotted patch on its neck likely gives it the name. When the wings are folded it displays speckling in yellow.
On my terrace. Pretty common in my area. They seem to recognize me and come flying to sit on nearby wires or on the neighbour's rooftops when they see me on the terrace.
Interestingly a small population of the Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto) is establishing itself. It began with just one individual near my friend's house (five minutes walk) and by the end of this year it had gone up to about six (in about 3-4 years or so). However, NOT a single Collared dove has visited my house although feral pigeons have discovered the grains I put out for the sparrows and the doves.
