Comana cosmocalla
Every January this moth shows up on my place. It is only around for a few days. I still don't know where they lay their eggs or what the caterpillar looks like. The moths of this species have brown/pink/orange forewings each with a dark arc across the middle. The hindwings are manly white. The wingspan is up to 4 cm.

Thanks Mark.. Mmmm :( I have to watch them next year.. I will make a note in my calender. :)
Good question. Amazing I can't find anything online. This seems to be very much a northern species (Qld,NT) but nobody has got the early stages. There is only one record so far of this moth on AtlasOfLivingAustralia and it's not too far from you. But I know Graeme Cocks in Townsville has found the moths too. I wonder why nobody has seen eggs or catties. A mystery.
I would like to see their stages. Do you have a photo of its caterpillar?
Not exactly this species but I recently reared a few of it's close cousins through pupation. Same shape but this one has extra nice colour. My brother from Noosa sent me a photo of this one in his back yard a week ago.
Thanks Mark.. Do you know this type of moth?
Little sweeties.
