Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel

Callospermophilus lateralis

Description:

An adult golden-mantled ground squirrel is 23 to 30 centimetres (9.1–12 in) in length. They are tan/gray in coloration with black and light colored stripes on the back, lighter below. They do not have facial stripes as do chipmunks.

Habitat:

Rocky mountain meadows, forested edges and sometimes sagebrush flats.
