Halfway to 1000! The Gypsy Moth, Lymantria dispar, is characterized by five pairs of blue warts followed by six pairs of red warts. All species in Eastern North America can be traced back to a single introduction in Boston, Massachusetts in 1869 by E. Léopold Trouvelot. The species is native to Asia.
