colaptes melanochloros and colaptes campestris
Some green-barred woodpeckers and some field flicker woodpeckers were freely flying and looking for food at the "Parque Lecocq" reserve. I think in this case they are all females - both the colaptes melanochloros and the campestris - because neither of them has the red mark next to the beak that males usually have.

Muito fofo!!!
Thank you mati =)
Thank you Ceci =)
Thank you very much María. And yes, they were two different types of woodpeckers as I tried to describe. Thanks and greetings =)
Great spotting, Patty. You may have already looked at this page, but just in case not, I wanted to pass it on. There is a section on woodpeckers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bir...
I am wondering...I found that the green barred woodpecker male and female have colour differences, but I also found a "carpintero nuca amarilla" which is not mentioned in the book about uruguayan birds I am reading. So, I guess it is only one species and this is its family, as the book suggests... I´ll keep searching just in case; glad to hear suggestions =)
