White-throated Magpie jay

Calocitta formosa

Description:

Largish bird, with a blue back and and a blue tail with white on the end of it. It has a white belly and throat, with a black band around the neck, with a black and white crest on its head.

Habitat:

It can be found in tropical dry forest, thorn forest,deciduous woodlands, and coffee plantations.

Notes:

It flies gracefully, its long tail streaming out behind it. It can be found in groups of up to 15, but you will usually see a flock of about 5 to 10 birds.

Lovely portrait - where did you see it? You could add that specific information to the habitat section (e.g., your yard, in a park, etc.)
