Osprey

Pandion haliaetus

Description:

The Osprey, sometimes known as the sea hawk, fish eagle or fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 24 in in length and 71 in across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts, with a black eye patch and wings

Notes:

I staked this Osprey out for a while. The nest was on a tall light post over a softball field. It made rounds from the nest out to undisclosed locations to carry back twigs and other items for a large nest. In this series, the bird was hauling back a fish.
