Description:

I'm not sure if this is one of the chipmunks living in the rocks beside the pond or just one of those that visit regularly. The common name "chipmunk" derives from Native American words - the Odawa (Ottawa) word ajidamoonh or the Ojibwe word ajidamoo - which mean "one who descends trees headlong." I have not seen them in trees, however!
