Jumping spider (male)

Phidippus whitmanii

Notes:

I found this jumping spider in my parents' yard. I noticed something flying with a very swift, direct "flight" pattern. It landed on my dad's landscaping bricks and promptly hid between them. I was surprised to find it was a spider; there wasn't much else around so I'm not sure from where it was descending. It would peek out from the shadows and return many times, until it finally decided I wasn't a threat and moved away very quickly.
