A small flower

Habitat:

Growing in a field. It will grow in the worst, leached out soils (up to 30 cm or 12 in tall), although it will grow taller in good soil with adequate water. D. Armeria is not native to the USA, but it does well in the wild without being dominant, in the temperate areas. The blooms close up at in the afternoon.

It is very pretty. It is a wild carnation. The genus is Dianthus. I hope this helps you find the species according to the flora in your area :-)
