Hyles livornica
Our last night visitor, an attractive large hawk-moth, about 5cm in length and probably around 7-8 in wingspan. Above, it mainly olive-brown to pinkish-beige, with large whitish stripes. The hindwings are pink, but I did not get a chance for a pic while it was calmly posing on this branch.
Seen during the night-time, on the bark of a male carob tree in our garden. Located at outskirts of Dubrovnik, on lower slopes of Srdj mountain, the garden is terraced and covered in Mediterranean fruit trees and spontaneous vegetation. In spring, these terraces are overgrown in beautiful dense carpet of spontaneous Mediterranean herbs and melliferous flowers.
