Common Moorhen (immature)

Gallinula chloropus

Description:

Short, sharp yellow bill (not red) and no red shield either...it really threw me. , Dark-coloured plumage with white flank line. As large as an adult and just as confident.

Habitat:

The water-hyacinth covered waters of freshwater Santragachi Jheel (lake). It was accompanied by adults which paid it no attention and some Bronze-winged Jacanas which also ignored it.

Notes:

I thought this was the Dusky Moorhen (looks just like one) but then spotted the white flank line. so prominently seen here: (http://www.arkive.org/common-moorhen/gal...)
