Ovenbird

Seiurus aurocapilla

Description:

Small Thrush-like bird, almost can be confused with Hermit Thrush. Dash lines down throat and down flanks. Faded eye ring, slender bill. Dark line near crown (visible) Brown on back and white underside. Tail cocked when walking. This bird prefers to walk then hop so it is easier to tell from the other birds nearby.

Habitat:

Spotted on a tree line of mixed trees, in leaf litter

Notes:

Rare bird for California. A few have been spotted over time

This was a rare spotting. The guy who found it hear something off and found the bird. It was spotted on the 2nd of Jan. Not sure how long it's been there.
